Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Development Planning and Special Initiatives, chaired a meeting to review the work being done on the Rawalpindi Ring Road, the proposed eastern bypass, and the Rawalpindi Islamabad waste management site here in Islamabad on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
The meeting was attended by the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of the CDA, Ali Nawaz Awan, MNA, Raja Khuram Nawaz, Executive Director of the PPP Authority, Secretary of Planning and senior officials of the Ministry of Planning.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Commissioner Rawalpindi briefed the minister on the current state of the three projects.

The meeting was briefed on the initiation of the procurement process for the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project and the resolution of minor outstanding issues were being resolved.
The Minister said that since the project was running in PPP mode, it will be implemented by a single entity, RDA, and CDA will ensure maximum business corporation facilitation for the RDA.
The meeting also decided that the CDA and the RDA would enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the joint use of the waste disposal facilities in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The minister also instructed civic bodies and the Authority for Public-Private Projects to examine the economic feasibility of the Eastern Bypass, which was also an important project for the twin cities.
