LDA REDUCES COST OF HOUSING UNITS
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has finally succeeded in reducing the cost of a 650 sq ft single-story housing unit. Subsequently, from over Rs3.855 million to Rs2.224 million in the first phase of LDA’s Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme in Lahore.
Under phase-1, the LDA plans to build 4,000 housing units for its employees. They have planned that they will construct thousands of more similar units in other phases of the project. The authority has also approved a revised PC-1 worth Rs9.917 billion.
According to the recent LDA meeting, they have planned the housing units will be constructed over a piece of land falling in the LDA City housing scheme. They are considering the apartment complex to be developed on an area of around 8,500 Kanal for 35,000 units in three years.
FACILITIES OFFERED BY LDA
Besides the construction of an apartment complex, LDA will also carry out allied infrastructure facilities such as streets, roads & walkways, water supply system, sewerage & drainage system, external electrification, landscaping & horticulture works etc.
They have also hired the services of a technical consultant for the Engineering Design of the apartment complex and allied infrastructure works.
The concerned quarters have also finalized the layout plan of complex. In addition, architectural design of apartment buildings and all the allied infrastructure works design.
“Initially, they prepared PC-I for the scheme amounting to Rs192.480 billion based on market rates system. Consequently, they put it up for approval at meetings on July 28 and 30, 2020. The Authority directed to prepare PC-Il of the project. LDA approved it in its 4th/2020 meeting.
Furthermore, the Authority directed to constitute “LDA City Naya Pakistan Apartments Technical Committee” to finalize technical and design specifications. Moreover, to make financial proposals about Expression of Interest (EOI). In addition, they also asked the Technical Committee to bring the cost of 650 sq ft apartment within Rs2.5 million.
