Authorities have completed the assessment of land acquisition and transfer of services in the Leh Expressway (Nullah Lai) and flood channel project. However, the decision on the financial model remains indecisive, an official shared on Monday(25.1.2021).
Prime Minister Imran Khan recently chaired a high-level meeting on the project. Thus, during the meeting he formed a committee to conclude the financial model of the road project, the official mentioned. He added that there is no progress so far in this regard.
Sources told that the project was to be started under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
Sources further commented that the completion of the Leh expressway will not only provide an alternative route between the twin cities, but the rates of the properties along the route would also shoot up.

The residents of the areas around Nullah Lai expressed a sigh of relief. As once the expressway will cover the Nullah, it will deal with the smell coming out from it. Hence, which will also stop the flow of sewage water into the water channel. Only clean rainwater would flow in the channel while overflowing of the Nullah during the monsoon season will stop as well, the official added.
