Punjab Launches Initiative to Combat Smog
Lahore: Provincial Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb gave orders during a meeting to develop an action plan to rid Punjab of haze.
The conference was attended by the DG of fisheries, the secretaries of the environment and wildlife, and other high-ranking authorities.
“This action plan will be forged through collaboration with the private sector to combat air pollution and enhance air quality in Punjab, especially Lahore,” the minister declared.

The establishment of a “Advisory Council for Environment” aimed to promote collaboration between private businesses and the province government.
“This council will function as a forum for discussion, advice, and proactive involvement of interested parties in determining a path towards improving the environment,” Ms. Aurangzeb continued.
Ensuring stakeholders are at the forefront of environmental decision-making is a critical function of the council.
Important choices were also made to speed up the development of a thorough framework for carbon credits and funding as well as to digitalize and optimize EPA operations.
