Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday (9.DEC.2020) inaugurated AirSial in Sialkot. It is the third private airline of Pakistan After the inauguration, PM Spoke to the business community. The Prime Minister said that the airline was an “excellent initiative“. He further added that it would create much-needed competition for the Pakistan International Airlines. Furthermore, it will benefit the business community in Sialkot, which the PM believed was on its way to becoming “Pakistan’s centre of exports”.

With its current fleet of three Airbus A320-200s, AirSial will begin operations with regular flights to and from Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Sialkot and Peshawar before expanding operations. The airline hopes to embark on its international journey in two years.

AirSial; A project of Sialkot’s business community

Air Sial was introduced and will be operated by Sialkot’s business community.

AirSial aims to “become the leading airline of the region.” It is the brainchild of members of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The city’s businessmen also funded the Sialkot Airport, completed in 2007 at the cost of approximately Rs4billion.

AirSial to help improve the aviation industry

PM Khan congratulated the vibrant business community of Sialkot for their dedicated efforts for Pakistan by first launching Sialkot International Airport, the country’s first privately-owned public airport, and now a private airline service. The new airline would create a culture of healthy competition in the aviation industry. It will offer improved services and bring down fares, the premier hoped.

Accompanied by federal ministers Hammad Azhar, Ghulam Sarwar, Adviser Razzak Dawood, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Usman Dar, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Special Assistant to Punjab CM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, the prime minister cut the ribbon to launch the airline which will initially operate domestically.
