Swat and the Surrounding Regions are Jolted by an Earthquake
Mingora and surrounding regions in Swat province were rocked by a moderate-intensity earthquake on Sunday 12, September 2021.
Seismological reports indicate that the strength of tremors reached 4.7 on the Richter scale, indicating that they were quite strong.
According to reports, the moderate-intensity earthquakes that occurred in the morning shook the Swat region and its surroundings.
According to seismological data, the earthquake had a depth of 110 kilometers and had its epicenter in a mountain range on the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. It was the deepest earthquake ever recorded in the region.
A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck various areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in September, causing widespread devastation (AJK). The earthquake struck portions of the region’s urban and rural regions, including Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and other locations.
As a consequence of the earthquake, at least 40 people were killed and more than 500 others were wounded. Approximately 6,000 homes were totally demolished, and 7100 livestock ranches were damaged as a result of the earthquake.
On August 19, an earthquake of a magnitude of 4.6 was recorded in the Swat region and its surrounding regions. The depth of the earthquake was estimated to be 118 kilometers, and the center of the tremor was located in the Hindu Kash mountain range.
A reminder that the devastating Kashmir earthquake that occurred on October 8, 2005, that a catastrophic earthquake in Kashmir struck, with the epicenter near the city of Muzaffarabad, took the lives of several thousand people and wounded or displaced hundreds of thousands more should be made here.
