GAS PIPELINE
Work on 1100 km long gas pipeline to be started next year.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar said that construction work on the 1100-kilometre Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project will begin in July next year. The Government has taken this step to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Karachi to Lahore.
In an interview, Nadeem Babar said that Pakistan will have a majority share of 51pc to 74pc in the project. However,Russia will own the remainder. He said that Pakistan’s gas distribution companies will be a part of the project. Whereas a Russian consortium would lead the construction
Nadeem Babar said the government also plans to add 150 million cubic feet a day of domestic gas output this month. Similarly, including 50 mm from the Mari gas field.
He said the government has also decided that it will only import cleaner Euro-5 diesel from January next year.

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) operates 12 producing fields. For instance, in Sui, Kandhkot, Adhi, Mazarani, Chachar, Adam, Adam West, Shahdadpur, Shahdadpur West, Shahdadpur East, Fazal and Dhok Sultan. Moreover, it has working interest in 23 partners-operated producing assets.
Daily gas production of PPL from its operated and partner-operated fields stands around one billion cubic feet equivalent (bcfe) of gas per day. Consequently, it translates into nearly 22 percent of the country’s total production of gas. The company’s major clients comprise Sui Southern Gas Company Limited , Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Water and Power Development Authority.
