Since June 2022, monsoon flooding has wreaked havoc across Pakistan, affecting the lives of millions. Homes, highways, bridges, and power stations around the nation have endured significant damage, with the provinces of Sindh and Punjab bearing the brunt of the devastation.
As of the 25th of August, extreme rains and flash floods have forced more than 215,997 people into shelters, caused damage to 670,328 dwellings, and impacted 116 of the region’s 160 districts. This has been deemed an epic humanitarian disaster by the county.
According to the authorities, the floods this year is equal to the worst floods on record, which occurred in 2010 when over 2,000 people lost their lives and about one-fifth of the country was flooded.
However, in order to speed up the relief operation, both the federal government and the provincial governments of Pakistan have been appealing to the people of Pakistan and to overseas donors for assistance.
