LAKE RESTORED AT SHAKARPARIAN
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) completed work on Family Park and Lotus Lake at tourist spot Shakarparian to promote tourism in the city. CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed inaugurated the Family Park and lake on Sunday, 21 November 2020.It happened for the first time since 2009 that CDA has constructed a family park.
Lotus lake has beautiful wooden benches and a few barbeque pitches. It has a length of 100ft long and is 68ft wide. There is no cement construction in the new site. The site is currently under trial, and CDA will introduce the water source in the next few days, said officials. The lake will have white and pink flowers. Authorities squeezed the natural lotus lake due to the Cultural Complex construction in 2004-2005. The Family Park and Lotus Lake at Shakarparian will provide the best tourism facilities to the citizens of the capital, said a CDA press release.
CDA has considered the natural beauty of the surroundings while constructing the Family Park and Lotus Lake. There are stone and wood benches for sitting places in the park. To maintain the natural beauty of the park, the CDA has planted saplings and grass. Located near the Shakarparian Hills, the new addition is an attempt to beautify the locality.
Open only to families, law and order would be kept in high consideration. The lotus lake is an addition to Islamabad’s other tourist attractions such as Daaman-e-Koh, Saidpur Village, Faisal Mosque, Khanpur Dam, Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, Lake View Park, Margala Hills and, Pakistan Monument.
A lake was constructed at Shakarparian in 1970, which was demolished in 2006 during the construction of the cultural complex. However, the citizens of Islamabad have been demanding the reconstruction of the lotus lake, so CDA has restored the lotus lake again along with a family park, said the officials.
