LAHORE: The Punjab government will pay a monthly stipend to transgender people under a new program of its social protection authority.
This was announced by the special assistant to the Chief Information Minister of Punjab, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, while speaking to the media with the vice president of the Punjab Social Protection Authority, Jamal Nasir Cheema, in Lahore.
Transgender people are part of society and will receive a monthly salary, she said.
Dr. Firdous said that the ‘Ehsaas Punjab Masawaat Programme’ was a unique program under which transgender people were being facilitated.

SACM said that under this program, disabled transgender people aged 18 to 40 received 2,000 rupees per month, while transgender people over 40 received 3,000 rupees per month.
She said the current government is prioritizing the underprivileged segment of society in all of its projects.
She said that CM Usman Buzdar announced a 9 billion rupee package to Bhakkar and brought the people of Bhakkar into the mainstream of development.
