WHAT IS A DRONE

The term “drone” usually refers to any unpiloted aircraft. Sometimes referred to as “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” (UAVs), these crafts can carry out an impressive range of tasks, ranging from military operations to package delivery. Drones vary in sizes ranging from as large as an aircraft or as small as the palm of your hand.

USES OF A DRONES

There are multiple uses of drones. For instance:

  1. Drones can measure the height of crops. It uses a remote sensing technology that measures distance by illuminating an object with a laser (near-infrared or UV) and then reflect back what is measured.

  2. The most well-known and controversial use of drones is in the military.

  3. Businesses use Drones to transport food, packages or goods to your front doorstep. Retailers and grocery chains all over the country are turning to drones as more efficient delivery alternative

  4. Sometimes it’s just not safe enough to send humans into a rescue situation due to the scope or severity of the disaster. That’s where drones come in.

  5. Drones are a cheaper and more efficient alternative to wildlife conservation. Tracking wildlife populations is nearly impossible with humans on the ground.

  6. Companies make drones that are specifically for photography that gives a new way to photograph some of your favorite destinations from above.
