PESHAWAR: In order to enhance tourism in the province, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to designate three tourist spots as integrated tourism zones.

Tourist locations include Ghanool in Mansehra, Mankyal in Swat, and Madaklasht in Lower Chitral.

To encourage tourism in Pakistan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has authorized the designation of three tourist destinations as integrated tourism zones: Ghanool (Mansehra), Mankyal (Swat), and Madaklasht (Lower Chitral) (ITZs).

In this respect, the inaugural meeting of the Provincial Tourism Strategy Board, led by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, was conducted, where the agreement was given, and the topic will be put before the provincial cabinet for final approval.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Cabinet members Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Ishtiaq Urmar, Chief Secretary Shehzad Bangash, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah administrative secretaries, and others.

The forum was informed that Ghanol ITZ will have 489 Kanal of land, while Mankyal and Madaklasht would have 450 Kanal and 500 Kanal of land, respectively.

It was also said that for the newly approved ITZs, section-4 was imposed on the designated area and the land acquisition procedure had begun.

The officials stated that a suitable location for another Integrated Tourism Zone has been located in Thandiani district Abbottabad and that following the necessary formalities, the site would be proclaimed as an Integrated Tourism Zone.

The conference attendees were informed that master plans for the Integrated Tourism Zones had been produced, and that management plans for these Integrated Tourism Zones will be prepared in the following phase.

The gathering was also informed that the Integrated Tourism Zones will be shown during the Dubai Expo 2022 in order to attract international investment.

While speaking at the meeting, the Chief Minister requested that rules for the aforementioned ITZs be prepared within the next two months and submitted for approval.

He also stated that the administration is aiming to develop tourism as an industry in the province, which would assist to stabilize the local economy and provide employment opportunities.
