Claim to have a cricket stadium costing Rs358m
To all the cricket and nature lovers out there, this one’s for you, especially the one’s residing in Pakistan. The provincial government has approved the construction of Hayatabad, Peshawar, and Kalam Valley cricket stadiums.
Speaking of the regional sports games that Pakistan is renowned for, Prime Minister Imran Khan said, during his stay at Peshawar, that the advancement of these sports is vital. “It is unfortunate that sports was not given the required attention it needed in the past decades,” he said. In addition, the prime minister also laid the cornerstone for the Kalam cricket stadium and the Swat grass cricket ground.
The initiative to fund sports events in the enticing Kalam valley was officially accepted by KPK Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) official Twitter account has declared this news official.

In August 2020, Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Director General Sports of KPK, announced to the media that the provincial government and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are working hand-in-hand to build the avant-garde stadium in the Kalam Valley, which might be something similar to the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The stadium features a fitness room, a multi-purpose gym, indoor sports, a swimming pool and seven-star hotel facilities.
A meeting was called with the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan to review progress on the proposed model. The meeting was attended by Sports Secretary Abid Majeed, Sports Director General Asfandyar Khattak and other officials involved. The proposed stadium plan, to which they approved, was shared and the authorities concerned were instructed to take the steps necessary.
He alluded to the promotion of sports activities in the province as one of his government’s focus areas and said that the nascent provincial government was taking results-oriented initiatives under a well-planned plan to ensure a valuable surrounding for sports activities in the province, according to the view of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to the initial estimate, it was recorded that in Kalam there was already a viable piece of land containing more than 600 kanal for the development of sports facilities, of which only 120 acres were required for the cricket stadium. The project ought to be finished in two years, with a projected cost of Rs358 million. The to-be-constructed stadium, in addition to other amenities, would have a capacity to hold 6000 onlookers at a time.
