MASTER PLAN 2050 FOR LAHORE
LDA has selected the Lebanese company, Darul Handsa to develop the ‘Master Plan 2050 for Lahore’. Following the evaluation of technical proposals by three companies.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director-General, Ahmed Aziz Tarar, chaired a meeting of the consultant selection committee. The LDA chairman chaired the meeting for the preparation of a new master plan for the provincial capital. Hence, LDA opened a financial bid of Rs. 520 million for the qualifying company.
According to the Director-General, the preparation of the new master plan in a transparent way is of top priority. As it will decide the future course of the development of Lahore.
Additionally, LDA has consulted experts and relevant stakeholders for the definition of the Terms of Reference.
The LDA chief and other officials as well as representatives of the three international companies : Darul Handsa from Lebanon, Mine Heart from Singapore, and Nespak from Pakistan also attended the meeting.
LAHORE MASTER PLAN 2050
Lahore development Authority LDA had decided to make the Lahore master plan up to 2040. However, now they updated it to 2050.
Authorities made this decision to take the city’s residential, business and industrial demands in control over the upcoming 30 years. LDA has also granted approval. Moreover,750 Million budgets is also allocated and all other preparations are also in process.
LDA will invite bids for consultancy services in two phases. It includes transport, power supply, infrastructure development and roads network and industrial development.
Furthermore, they have also drafted the terms and conditions for the appointment of consultants. Therefore, according to which they will do the hiring . Adding to this the companies with experience of developing a master project for a city having population over 10 million will only be considered.
The LDA DG said we will prepare the new master plan for all urban and rural areas within the limits of Lahore division. The preparation of the new master plan will ensure environmental protection, sensible use of resources, preservation of historical heritage, promotion of economic activities and inclusion of all sections of the population.
