Bodies of Ali Sadpara, John Snorri, Juan Pablo Mohr were found at K2
ISLAMABAD: Mohammad Ali Sadpara, a missing Pakistani climber, was discovered less than 300 meters from the K2 bottleneck.
Gilgit-Baltistan Information Minister Fatehullah Khan said that the bodies of world-renowned mountaineer Muhammad Ali Sadpara 🧗🏻♂️ and two other foreign mountaineers were seen at the K2 base camp.
Sajid Sadpara, along with Canadian movie maker Elia Saikaly and Pasang Kaji Sherpa, are climbing K2, the world’s second-highest peak at 8,611m (28,251 feet) to find the bodies of their father Ali Muhammad Sadpara 🧗🏻♂️ and his companion climbers Iceland’s John Snorri and Chile’s Juan Pablo Mohr 🧗🏿♀️ 🧗🏿 .
The climbers went missing on February 5 and were pronounced dead a few days later after their bodies were not found and the rescue mission was canceled.
The Pakistani army alleged a rescue operation for missing mountaineers for several days. Sadpara’s son pronounced his father dead after completing an elongated-day search mission.

In June Sajid had announced that he would return to K2 to shoot a documentary about his father and also to locate his body.
“I want to go to K2 to find out what happened to my father and John Snorri,” Sajid stated during a news conference announcing his intention to begin climbing the world’s second-highest peak.
The team arrived at Camp 4 in the morning and flew a drone into the area looking for the bodies, the source added.
The crew was able to locate a corpse above Camp 4 near the bottleneck using the drone.

Sajid Ali Sadpara the Son of Ali Sadpara confirmed the news of finding the body of his father Ali. This news is also confirmed by Secretary, Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) Karrar Haideri.
Haideri claimed it was “extremely difficult” to carry the bodies down from the mountain 🏔 , Because of the great height, but that Army Aviation was assisting in this regard.
Bodies have found and the difficult task is to bring them back government of Pakistan is helping through army aviation. Hopefully tomorrow army heli will fly to bring the bodies down through sling operation. John Snorii body will be move to Iceland requested by Lina Pablo family.

Haideri said Snorri’s body would be transferred to Iceland at the request of his wife, Lina.
Mohr’s sister and mother had also previously decided that her body would be returned to Chile, the ACP secretary added.

“A film on Jon Snorri and Ali Sadpara’s lives is in the works. [I wish] to go to K2 to look for [the body] and make a documentary, “Sajid, adding that it can take 40 to 45 days for him and his team to reach the top.
Mohammad Ali Sadpara holds the distinction of being the only Pakistani to scale eight of the world’s 14 tallest peaks. He is also recognized as the first winter climber of Nanga Parbat 🏔, the world’s ninth-highest summit.
In addition to Sadpara, Snorri, and Mohr, mountaineers Atanas Skatov and Sergi Mingote Moreno also attempted the winter summit of K2 this year and lost their lives on the mountain.
After Sadpara’s death, the Gilgit-Baltistan government promised his family Rs.3 million and suitable employment for his son.
In commemoration of his contributions, the Muhammad Ali Sadpara Institute for Adventure Sports, Mountaineering, and Rock Climbing has been established.
The government has also decided to nominate Ali Sadpara for the highest national civil recognition.
