The Malam Jabba Winter Sports Festival 2020 started in the scenic tourist resort Malam Jabba in Swat Valley from January 17.
GAMES IN WINTER FESTIVAL
Besides snowboarding games, traditional foods and music festival is also part of the gala to entertain the tourists and visitors. The Tourism Department had also arranged the thrilling snowboarding games, championship at the Malam Jabba resort last year.
The event was well-received by all and a large number of people from across the country. Moreover, international tourists had participated in the event. Snowboarding is a recreational and competitive activity. It involves descending a snow-covered slope while standing on a snowboard attached to a rider’s feet.
The game is so popular that it even features in the Winter Olympic Games and Winter Paralympic Games at the international level.

The organizers said that the snowboarding championship would send a positive message to the world that Pakistan has restored peace and tourism activities in full swing.
They said that we are making efforts to develop scenic spots and make facilities available there to attract domestic and foreign tourists to the province. They said that we have asked, concerned departments to make better arrangements for holding the gala in a befitting manner.
The championship is also for bringing the most serene spots, including Malam Jabba, Madyan, Kalam, Bahrain and elsewhere in the valley, back to life and attracting tourists to these destinations.
MALAM JABBA
Malam Jabba is the only civil skiing resort in Pakistan at about 8500 feet above the sea level. Besides skiing, alpine ski, skating competitions for both under-15 boys and girls and seniors, curling, snow-tubing and others are also part of the gala. The official said that we aimed the sports extravaganza at reviving the scenic places, rehabilitating the archaeological and heritage sites. Furthermore, provision of missing facilities to boost tourism in the province to attract tourists and visitors to the most serene spots.
Because of these attractions, millions of people visit to experience the beauty it has to offer. The incumbent government at its very outset took some drastic and tangible measures to boost tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The provincial Government has taken worth mentioning steps that led to the promotion of tourism and sports. In addition, preserving the rich heritage, cultural and archaeological sites in the province.
