FM Qureshi Encourages Egyptian Businessmen To Invest In Pakistan

Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged Egyptian companies to invest in Pakistan by highlighting the incentives the government is offering to foreign investors in various sectors, including housing, energy and health, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday, February, 2021.

 

The FM is on an official two-day visit to Egypt at the invitation of it’s Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Hassan Shoukry. The FM also invited him on behalf of President Arif Alvi.

He said this while speaking with a delegation of Egyptian businessmen and entrepreneurs who had visited him in Cairo.

The foreign minister assured Egyptian investors and entrepreneurs that the Pakistani government will provide all possible cooperation and facilitation to their for-profit commercial and investment activities in Pakistan.

He said the improvement in Pakistan’s rating in terms of ease of doing business internationally reflects the international community’s full confidence in the policies of the current government. He said that “brotherly relations” between Pakistan and Egypt could be further improved through increased bilateral trade and economic partnership. He also assured the Egyptian business community that the government would take all necessary steps to help them if they chose to invest in Pakistan.

Members of the Egyptian delegation expressed their interest in investing Pakistan’s healthcare, energy and construction sectors.

The president and CEO of the renowned Elsewedy Electric, Ahmed Elsewedy, also called FM Qureshi in Cairo and expressed the company’s interest in investing in Pakistan.

The foreign minister told Elsewedy that “Pakistan is an emerging market and business companies around the world are showing interest in investing in Pakistan due to the government’s prudent economic policies.”
