Italian-Pakistan relations get a boost
It is worth noting that Pakistan and Italy are strengthening their ties. Textiles, agriculture, construction, education, and health care are among the primary fields of cooperation between the two countries.
As a result, between July and October 2021, Pakistan’s shipments to Italy increased by 35%, well outpacing the country’s overall export growth. Furthermore, employee remittances from Italy reached an all-time high of $601 million in fiscal 2020-21. As a result, Italy overtook the United Kingdom as the second-largest European Union supplier of worker remittances to Pakistan.
Above all, Italy wishes to create a gemstone training institute in Gilgit-Baltistan in order to maximize the potential of these areas while also expanding bilateral cooperation. To be clear, Pakistan’s latent gemstones industry has a $32 billion dollar annual export potential.
Andreas Ferrarese, the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, suggested the idea to the Chairman of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
He also asserted that Italy planned to leverage technology transfer to bring in a new era of economic and trade relations with Pakistan.
